Floral arrangements at St. Stephen’s have been
provided by devoted volunteers in the parish Flower Guild, carrying
on a tradition that goes back to the earliest days of the parish.
The work of the guild is a partnership between the donors who
contribute money for flower memorials and thanksgivings, and members
of the Guild who give their time to obtain the materials and create
the arrangements. The
Flower Guild assists in the worship of the parish by providing and
preparing flowers or greens at the altar and occasionally in other
places in and outside the church building for all Sunday services,
Holy Days and other special occasions. Only natural materials are
used
The flowers in the church are
funded entirely by donations from members and friends of the parish,
not from the church operating budget. Flower donations are accepted
on a first-come, first-served basis. If the date is already booked
on the Sunday you want, you have the option of taking the nearest
vacant Sunday or combining with another parishioner on the desired
date.
The flowers at the altar are
given by parishioners of St. Stephen’s to the glory of God and in
the memory or thanksgiving for their loved ones. The Flower Guild is
always aware of their generosity and the love it is allowed to
share. This ministry is to try to show all the congregation how
beautiful God’s creations can be and how great is his love for all
of us. On Monday, the flowers from Sunday’ services are rearranged
into smaller bouquets and taken to nursing homes and to shut
ins.
Please join us for this ministry.
No experience is
necessary and we’ll be glad to help you learn!
