Parish Life events at St.
Stephen's offer a variety of volunteer opportunities in support of the
mission and ministries of the church. If you wish to participate in any
of these, please call or e-mail
the church office.
Annual Parish Life Events:
Lenten Programs and Suppers (February and March)
Parish Auction (October)
Parish Halloween Party (October)
Acolytes:
Baptized children in the third grade and up and confirmed adults may serve as
an acolyte. Acolytes are trained and then assigned specific 10:30 services throughout
the year.
Altar Guild:
The Altar Guild is responsible for
cleaning the silver and brass, preparing the altar, keeping the font in
readiness for baptism, and changing the colors of the hangings to conform to
the seasons and sacraments.
Caring Committee:
The Caring Committee visits those in bereavement, members home from the
hospital, and parents of new babies, bringing food and comfort.
Flower Guild:
The Flower Guild provides the Sunday altar flowers and wedding flowers upon
request.
Foyers
Foyers is an agenda-free dinner group
that provides an easy way to expand your circle of St. Stephen’s
friends. Groups of six to eight
people meet for monthly meals in the homes of group members. Contact Sandy Mills for more information.
Lay Eucharistic Ministers:
Interested parishioners may apply to
become chalice bearers at St. Stephen's services. Lay Eucharistic Ministers
also take communion weekly to sick and shut-in church members as well as
residents of nursing homes, the Georgia War Veterans Home and Central State
Hospital.
Ushers:
At each service, our ushers extend a friendly
welcome to parishioners and visitors. Their duties include distributing
bulletins, passing the alms baskets, carrying the sacraments to the altar,
and assisting newcomers in finding their way around the church grounds. Any
confirmed parishioner may train to become an usher.
