St. Stephens has a history of generous giving by its
Parish members. There is no long term debt and we generally pay for major
events with additional pledges that will cover the costs.
Stewardship comes
from the heart. When our members say, “We pledge the following $’s….,” that
is what the church receives. The last five years show the average Actual
Pledges Received equals 102% of the Pledges Made.
Our past five year
Surplus/Deficit, shows an average Surplus of $5,019.
Being good stewards
of the Parish’s monies, includes careful review of how the expenses are
budgeted, placing the accountability for the spending of those funds into
the hands of those who oversee that function, and having a flexible view of
the areas of growth in the parish and making Vestry authorized adjustments,
as needed, along the way.
The treasurer,
finance committee and our financial secretary at St. Stephen’s Episcopal
Church conduct the transactions and reporting, review the current budget,
plan for the continuing growth of our Parish, and provide financial
information to those responsible for each function of the Church. All
financial matters are also reviewed with an annual audit by an outside CPA
firm, and ultimately, by the Vestry.
God continues to
bless the mission of this 160 year old parish and we are privileged to be a
part of his great work. |
